PATRON IRENE FRYER

27 May 2024

It is with much sadness that we advise the passing of long-time theatre member and Patron Irene Fryer. Since first joining the theatre in 1965, Irene held several Committee positions and four terms as President over 16 years. She is fondly remembered for her moving stage appearances and her work as a director on no less than 32 productions. These included many musicals over the 70s, 80s and 90s, including Me And My Girl, Zorba, Man of La Mancha, Fings Ain’t Wot They Used T’Be, Fiddler on the Roof, and Godspell. "Irene’s name is a constant reminder of all that’s good about community theatre in New Zealand. To have achieved so much in her time is testament to Irene’s wisdom, organisation, directing and acting skills. Without her, Howick Little Theatre would not be what it is today." – Laurie Mills, President
